Joyce Cole, Kindergarten Art

Education:

Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University

Experience:

For the past 25 years, I have taught in many different situations, but predominantly in homeschooling our four children, the oldest of whom is currently at Nazarene Theological Seminary. I have taught first grade, preschool, ESL to new immigrants, and 100-voice children's choirs. I am excited about teaching K-1 at PCA because this age group remains my favorite.

Interesting Fact:

I once spent Christmas Day visiting Red Square in Moscow.

Brief Biography:

My husband, Jeff, and I have been married for nearly 27 years. Jeff is Director of Software Development for Hewlett Packard in Lexington. We have four beautiful children and one adorable daughter-in-law.


Jenny Morrin, Kindergarten Spanish

Experience:

I taught elementary school for four years in Fayette County before staying home with my children.

Interesting Fact:

I swam with Dolphins this summer!

Brief Biography:

I grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky. While attending college at Georgetown, I met my husband, Ivan. We have two wonderful boys: Keagan and Tristan.


Garnett Jones, Spanish

3 years of nursing school

Experience:

I worked as a Registered Nurse for 51 years, an elementary school teacher for one year, and a Bible School teacher for one year. This is my 2nd year teaching at PCA.

Interesting Facts:

I taught in a one-room school in the Kentucky mountains. I spent three summers in Ecuador as a missionary nurse.

Brief Biography:

I lived in Covington, Kentucky for 10 years then Dry Ridge, Kentucky for 7 years. I am the oldest of 8 children. My husband was a Baptist minister for 36 years. I have three children: Diana is a realtor in Florida, David is an attorney in Lexington, and Darryl is a retired police officer in Georgetown. I have seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild!


Kim Madden, Music

Education:

Studied Music (Organ/Piano) at University of Connecticut
Studied Elementary Education at Centenary College in New Jersey

Experience:

I have taught piano lessons since I was 16 years old. I have also directed several children's choirs, handbell choirs, adult choirs, and ensembles. I was the Director/Organist of Christian Education Music. I co-developed an after-school children’s music ministry. I have been the owner/educator of a Kindermusik studio for five years. I have developed several children's music curricula over the years, including "Music & Puppet Fun."

Interesting Fact:

When I was in 5th grade, I was the spelling champ of the entire Middleton Valley Elementary School!

Brief Biography:

I am from all over: New Jersey, Okinawa, California, Maryland, Illinois. I was a USAF brat! I will have been married to John, my best friend, for 27 years this November. God blessed us with a miracle early in our marriage: Andrew James Madden, known as "AJ." He is now 23 years old, works full-time at Fed Ex, part-time at UpBeat Café, and is the lead singer in a band called "Source."


Nora Oliver, Technology

Experience:

This is my 3rd year teaching technology at PCA.

Interesting Fact:

I watched the Georgetown, KY taping of "Supernanny" with my daughters. And, I had my photo taken with Nanny Jo and her little black British car.

Brief Biography:

I grew up in Georgetown, KY and have three children: Tim, Amanda, and Kaitlyn.


Missy Thomas, Health & Fitness

Bachelor of Physical Education from Houghton College in New York

Experience:

I taught Elementary Physical Education for seven year in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Interesting Fact:

I love soccer! I played from age 6 into high school, college, and on to Europe for one summer. Best sport ever!

Brief Biography:

I was raised in a strong Christian family, creating solid roots for my own connection with Jesus. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news! I grew up mostly in Virginia, between Fredericksburg and Chesapeake. I also lived in Spain for one year, and lived in Monterey, California for three thanks to my Navy daddy! My companions in my family are my husband of 6 years, Brandon, my 2-year-old daughter, Sonya, our Holstein-cow-colored cat, Tasha, our jaguar-sized cat, Finn, and our 60-pound baby blue Doberman, Doc.

This is my 3rd year teaching Art at Providence.

I love to travel, especially to Maui, Hawaii where you can find me every January!

I was born and raised in Bourbon County, Kentucky. My husband, Bill, and I have 3 children: D-T and Emily (twins), and Elly.
